Canada
aboard!
 New Arrivals Toasting
Their First ‘PainKillers’!
As soon as our Canadian gang of
girls stepped off the last plane they were ready for sun, fun and warm
Caribbean waters!
After a long day traveling they were eager to try the popular and very addictive
local drink called a painkiller. It does just that – melting all of life’s
pains as it goes down! Two of the group were from North
Bay and the other three from
Newfoundland and all of
them were characters full of humor, fun and a zest for life. Rick was soon
overwhelmed with all the females surrounding him, including Lucky and Ashley,
and in his glory. The girls quickly lost all cold weather clothes and happily
put on bikinis and wraps. We set sail to one of our favorite anchorages to swim
and relax.

The Ladies Lounging On
Deck
The weather was perfect – hot and
sunny and the girls took full advantage of it. After a visit to Foxy’s Taboo
and frolicking in the bubbly pools we made our way to gorgeous beach at White’s
Bay. The day was spent sunning, visiting beach shops and swimming in the
turquoise waters. The girls thoroughly enjoyed the meals and we all had stuffed
and satisfied bellies. Being very pale and fair Canadians the girls soon
realized the sun was very hot and some sun burns occurred while lounging on the
party raft. I don’t think Monique’s poor feet will ever be the same! Dinner
and dancing at Foxy’s were a huge success with lots of dancing and partying to
the reggae band. We all had a great time and the tropical drinks flowed.

Basking in the Sun on
Sandy Cay
Anchoring off Sandy Cay
the girls all stared in awe at the pristine and perfect island off our bow. It
looks like the island you would dream of if you were ever deserted with the man
of your dreams. After yummy fruit filled crepes for breakfast we jumped in the
dinghy and grabbed spots on the beach. We swam, read, hiked the hill to the top
of the cliffs and lay in the warm sun. Cane
Garden Bay was our next
destination. This horseshoe shaped beach is perfect for long walks and is
dotted with beach bars with live music. Our favorite is tucked in the trees
like a tree house and the food and blues are great. Rick and I had a wonderful
time hanging with fellow Canadians and loved the dry wit of their humor.

Strutting Their Stuff
at Devils Bay, Virgin
Gorda
The cave hike at The Baths was a
trip highlight for everyone. The cameras were snapping and we all felt like we
were on a photo shoot! The sheer beauty and magnitude of the giant boulders
made us all contemplate how they ever got here and what kind of force it must
have taken. Emerging onto Devils Bay beach we all leapt in
and cooled off after our hike. The water was the perfect temperature and we
goofed and played like 10 year olds! Another perfect day in paradise for all.
We had a lovely dinner of fresh Mahi-Mahi with ginger sauce and of course
stuffed ourselves again! We piled in the dinghy and headed for Willy T’s for a
night of dancing and partying – watch out Willy, here come the Canadian
girls!

Terri & Rick at ‘Pirates’
We all geared up and snorkeled off
the end of the boat to the stunning caves around the point. Everyone was amazed
by the underwater cliffs, caves and hundreds of fish. The girls treated us to
lunch at Pirates on the beach and it was great. Michele found her pirate flag
and the girls shopped and lounged on the beach after lunch. The days were
flying by filled with fun, sun, swimming and eating! What more could you
want?!
When Rick told me we were going to
have 5 girls from Canada on board I knew we
were in for an interesting time. I absolutely loved being surrounded by all
women and being part of the laughing, the jokes and witty lines and the caring
and chatting about girl stuff. It was something I had been missing being far
from my own friends and it was great to be part of a gang. The easy-going and
fun seeking nature of everyone made us all get along with ease and really enjoy
our times together. It was wonderful to get to know each of these strong,
intelligent, interesting and kind-hearted women as they relaxed and played in
the Caribbean. I don’t
think we have laughed so much with anyone else before – the jokes and sense of
humor of all the girls, especially Michele kept us laughing every day. I was
very sad to see them go and the boat never felt so empty before. Thanks girls
for an amazing time with you and for being the crazy, spirited women you
are!
Cheers, Terri
He
Said:
Okay, so I know some of you are
wondering… 1 guy and 6 girls… how does this happen!! Well I must admit to being
a little apprehensive when I found out that 5 girls were coming down from
Canada, and then when I found out some of them were from Newfoundland and one of
them brought down some Screech (VERY strong Newfoundland Rum) I figured we’d
have our hands full for sure! Lol
As co-coordinator I had to wonder
how I was going to pick locations that would satisfy all as I knew they’d all
have different desires for their itineraries, let alone how Terri was going to
prepare meals that they would all like! We did our best picking through the
vast differences in their preferences and in the end did very well, everyone
raved about Terri’s culinary creations, and were ecstatic with the little pieces
of paradise we picked out for them.
We had a great time, the Ladies were
awesome and so much fun to hang out with… I got a kick out of just sitting in
the background listening to all the girl talk… after a few days it felt like I
was in the middle of a ‘Sex in the City’ episode! We all joked about that
actually and even contemplated our own version of the show called ‘Sex in the
Caribbean’, lol.
Pretty soon they were talking like I wasn’t even there… just blending in to the
background, lol… Michele was an absolute howl, definitely the comedian of the
bunch, she was always coming up with things that made everyone roll with
laughter. Thanks for the entertainment ladies, you made our jobs interesting
and fun!
Terri and I dropped them off at the
airport yesterday morning, and as always it was a sad experience… you always get
attached very quickly to the people that are attracted to this type of holiday…
even though they come from all walks of life they all share similar personality
traits that make them all very fun to be with. Now that Terri & I are on
our own again we immediately got back to the work at hand… cleaning and prepping
the boat for our next visit to the airport… tomorrow! We put into Road Town and
did all our grocery shopping, had the laundry done, etc and then put into a
beautiful little bay on the side of Cooper Island that was lined with sand
beaches and palm trees… and the usual variety of coral blue water! It was
beautiful and had the added advantage of working wireless internet… perfect! I
set up my office in the cockpit and managed to get a lot done today that had
been waiting for a while now.
Just for fun we took one more
picture from my office (the cockpit) looking out our back door this morning…
Enjoy!

Our ‘Backyard’ This
Morning at Coopers
Island!
Cheers, Rick
