Hi
Everyone
I know it's been a
while since last update... I'll get some out to catch up soon from the trip down
to Virginia from Toronto, it was quite a ride! Meantime, just wanted to send
out a quick update that we are finally getting underway today and leaving the
docks in Hampton destined for the Caribbean! The Rally has been great, but
keeping us all very busy, in addition to all the usual boat preparation that is
required for an offshore passage. 'Sophisticated Lady' is in great shape, and
she's ready to go!
Something new this
year is the addition of satellite tracking devices on all the Rally boats. This
is a very cool feature for those of you that like to track our positions, you
will actually be able to see a picture of our boat from space that is updated
every 4 hours! The website is at www.Carib1500.com and at the top of the page
there is a link to the boat positions. Follow that link and at the new page you
will see a list of all the boats and their Rally classes. 'Sophisticated Lady'
is in Class 2 so click on that link and it will take you to the live chart with
all the boats positions in our class. Once there, if you look at the top right
corner of the chart there is an option to switch to satellite view from chart
view, click on that and then you'll be looking at the live picture. We are the
burgundy arrow and if you grab the picture and center the arrow in the screen,
then you can zoom right in and you will see a picture of 'Sophisticated Lady'
taken from space that is updated every 4 hours... very cool! We have tried it
already and we can literally see the boat docked in the slip at the
marina!
Give it a try, let
us know how it works for you, and we'll do our best to get some updates out
soon... satphone willing!
This link should get
you to the chart page, then you'll just have to select satellite view and zoom
in... if not just follow the link described above.
